UPDATE:

We have now finished all our work at the scene and the incident has been safely resolved with no issues or concerns. The scene has now reopened and we would like to thank everyone for their cooperation.

Officers from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal have now removed the suspicious item, which is believed to be an industrial firework and the cordon has now been removed.
We’d like to thank residents for their patience while this object was assessed and removed safely.

PREVIOUS UPDATE:

Police have cordoned off an area in Cobridge, Stoke-on-Trent after we were alerted to a suspicious object in a walkway off Sneyd Street, Stoke-on-Trent, just before 6.05am on Thursday 13 August.

As a safety precaution the immediate area remains cordoned off while specially trained Explosive Ordnance Disposal officers attend to safely remove the object.

Officers from the Local Policing Team are in the area to provide reassurance to residents whilst the object is being assessed and we hope to resolve the situation very soon.
