Officers were called to a report of an injured man in the road on the A5 near Stretton and Gailey Island at around 1.10am on Monday 24 August. The man was walking along the road when he was in collision with an unknown vehicle which did not stop.
The man, a 47-year-old from Cosley, suffered head and leg injuries and was taken to the Royal Stoke Hospital where he remains for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
An investigation is ongoing to trace the vehicle, which is believed to be a Fiat.
The pedestrian was leaving the nearby V Festival site and it is believed the area was busy with others leaving the site.
