Bogus Official burglary in Stafford

2PaulPickard-043We received a call just after 9am yesterday morning (9th September) to reports of a bogus official burglary at an address in Hurlingham Road, Stafford, over the weekend.

At about 2.30pm on Saturday afternoon (5 September), an unknown male gained entry to the property under the pretence of being a gas man, stating that he had come to check the meter. The man has then looked at the meter inside the property before asking for payment of £50, before leaving.

The man is described as black, 6 ft 2” tall and of slim build.  He was wearing yellow hi-visibility jacket and trousers.

Chief Inspector Jane Hewett, Commander of Stafford Borough Local Policing Team (LPT), said: “If you see, or hear, anyone acting suspiciously in your community then please call us on 101.”

Anyone with any information on the incident is asked to contact Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 114 of  9 September.
