We received a call at 3am this morning (30 September), reporting a break-in at Tesco Express, Netherstowe, Lichfield.
Offenders approached the closed and secure store during the night and forced open the front doors to gain access. Once inside they attacked a self-service till and a cash register.
During the incident the “smoke cloak” security device activated, disturbing the offenders, forcing them to flee the premises.
It is believed that the only item stolen was a bottle of whisky but damage was caused to the front doors and the self-service till.
Anyone with any information on the incident is asked to contact Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 48 of 30 September.
