APPEAL: Did you witness Burton robbery?

An appeal has gone out for witnesses to a handbag robbery close to Andressey Bridge, Burton-upon-Trent, on Friday, October 2.

The incident occurred around 10am as a 39-year-old woman was walking from Ferry Bridge towards the library in High Street. As she approached Andressey Bridge, a male spoke to her and grabbed her handbag, which was worn strapped across her body.

As she attempted to hang on to the bag, she ended up on the ground and the offender pulled the bag so hard the strap broke. He ran off with the bag in the direction of Ferry Bridge.

The woman was uninjured but very shaken and distressed.

The offender is described as a white teenage male of slim build with short hair. He was wearing trainers and jeans. The handbag is described as grey with a gold coloured River Island logo.

Anyone with any information, or who may have witnessed the bag snatch is asked to contact Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident 222 of October 2.

Alternatively, they can contact the independent crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111, or via the anonymous online report form at Details cannot be traced and they will not go to court.
