WOMAN CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED MURDER

A woman has been charged with attempted murder and will appear before magistrates in Burton this morning. (Tues)

Sonia Witton, aged 47, from Rugeley, was arrested at Chasewater Country Park on Sunday (8 Nov) following an incident at an address in Chorley Road, Burntwood.

A 77-year-old man from the Chorley Road address was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham with stab wounds. He remains in a stable condition.

Witton was charged with attempted murder last night, Monday.

A detailed investigation into this incident is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Staffordshire Police on 101 quoting incident 267 of Nov 8.

A woman has been arrested at Chasewater Country Park in connection with a domestic-related incident in Burntwood earlier this morning. (Sun 8 Nov)

Police on the ground, supported by colleagues from the force’s Dog Support Unit and helicopter, have been searching the area’s countryside following an incident at an address in Chorley Road, Burntwood.

Officers were called to Chorley Road just before 9.30am after a report was received of a 71-year-old man having sustained several stab wounds. He was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham where his condition is described as stable.

The 47-year-old woman had left the address prior to police arrival and following a detailed search of the area was located at the Park.

Officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.

An investigation is now underway. Anyone with information is asked to call Staffordshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 267 of November 8, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
