The collision happened at around 5.25pm on Sunday 22 November in Newton Road, Burton-upon-Trent.
It involved three cars involved, a Black Vauxhall Astra, a Silver Vauxhall Astra and a silver Audi A6.
Both Vauxhalls were travelling towards Burton-upon-Trent from the Repton direction whilst the Audi was travelling towards Repton from Burton.
The driver of the Black Astra, a 29-year-old man from Burton, suffered a chest injury and was taken to Burton Queens Hospital for treatment. His passengers, a woman and a 10-year-old boy, were taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital and the Royal Derby Hospital respectively.
The man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and dangerous driving. He remains on bail pending further enquires.
The occupants of the silver Astra, a man, a woman and a child, who are all from Burton and a family of four travelling in the Audi, a man, woman, teenage male and female child, from the Repton area, all attended hospital for treatment to various injuries.
Fortunately none of the injuries were life changing or life threatening.
The three cars suffered extensive damage and the silver Astra caught fire after the collision but all occupants were out of the car.
