APPEAL: WHO STOLE SANTA?

Police wish to talk to a man captured on CCTV in connection with the theft of a dancing Santa from a Cannock supermarket.

At approximately 5.10pm on Saturday 28 November the man took the 5ft plastic Santa decoration from the Co op on Brownhills Road, Norton Canes.

The Christmas decoration, which the store have used for many years, holds a great deal of sentiment amongst the staff and they wish for it to be returned.

Santa was situated between the newspaper stand and the store’s entrance/exit when he was taken.

Staff managed to speak to the man outside and he claimed a woman had taken Santa and he would get it back. He never returned.

He is described as white, 6ft tall with a big build, aged in his 30’s and clean shaven. He was wearing a black woollen hat; green zipped jacket with a blue shirt underneath and dark-coloured bottoms and green gloves.

The Santa decoration is 5ft tall, plastic and stands on a black, circular base. Santa usually dances but the mechanism is currently broken.

If you recognise this man, or witnessed the incident, please call PC Samantha Bream at Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident 271 of December 1, or the independent crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or through their Anonymous Online Form at
