Police are appealing for witnesses to a robbery in Tamworth in the early hours of Sunday, December 27.
A 63-year-old man was assaulted by a number of offenders as he walked to his home in the Glascote area between 12.30 and 2am. He lost consciousness after being punched in the face and hit on the back of the head. The offenders stole his mobile phone and a wallet containing cash and bank cards.
The man was able to return home and later received treatment for head and facial injuries at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham.
The robbery occurred on a footpath at the top of Maitland about 50 metres from an underpass beneath Marlborough Way.
The stolen wallet is described as black and blue cloth with Velcro fastening and the mobile as a black Meridon smart phone.
Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call 101, quoting incident 388 of December 27.
