A38 fatal collision – man named

Officers investigating a fatal road traffic collision near Branston, Burton-upon-Trent, are now able to name the man who died.

He was Daniel King, 25, from the Branston area. His family are being offered support from specially trained officers.

Daniel died after he was in collision with a white Volkswagen Golf at around 1.40pm on Monday 28 December.

Emergency services attended the collision which occurred on the southbound carriageway near to the Gate Inn pub, Branston. Sadly, despite motorists and paramedics best efforts Daniel died at the scene.

The road remained closed while specialist collision investigators carried out a detailed forensic investigation at the scene and recovered the car involved. The two occupants of the car were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Officers would like to thank those who stopped to help at the scene, motorists for their patience while the road was closed and those that have come forward as witnesses.
