Police are appealing for help to catch an offender who assaulted a teenager in Stafford.
The incident happened at around 6 pm on Sunday (3 January) on Railway St. A group of teenagers had been involved in a dispute which ended when a 17 year-old woman was hit on the back of her head with a weapon, believed to be a hammer. The suspected offender made off from the scene in a taxi accompanied by another teenage male.
The young woman was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital where she was diagnosed with a fractured skull and received stitches for her head wound. She was later released to recuperate at home.
DC Mark Underwood of Staffordshire Police said : ” Fortunately, the young woman injured in this attack is expected to make a full recovery. However, things could have turned out very different.
“We’re keen to speak to anyone who may have seen or heard anything round the area of the station at this time on Sunday, or who may have CCTV which could show the incident. This type of violence can not be tolerated and we need help to make sure we bring the offender to justice.”
