Don’t be tricked by bogus police calls

We are again reminding people to be vigilant after receiving several calls today, Monday, February 8, from concerned residents in the Burntwood and Lichfield area saying they have had a phone call from a police officer.

The residents are told that a debit/credit card has been used in London and they are investigating. Residents are then invited to call 161 to verify the caller is from the police.

This is a scam designed to obtain banking details and/or personal information and access to your bank accounts.

Protect yourself against fraud. If you receive one of these phone calls end it immediately.

And always remember that the police and your bank will NEVER ask you for your PIN.

Please share this advice with friends or relatives, especially those who live in the Lichfield and Burntwood area.

Call us on 101 to report any suspicious calls, quoting incident 270 of February 8.
