We received a call at 1.15pm yesterday afternoon (Wednesday 10 February) reporting a road traffic collision in Hanley town centre.
A blue Vauxhall Vectra was in collision with a pedestrian at the junction of Potteries Way and Bucknall New Road.
A 35 year-old male pedestrian was treated at the scene for serious head and leg injuries by the ambulance service before being transported to the Royal Stoke University Hospital where his condition is described as critical.
The driver of the Vectra received minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
The road remained closed for three hours whilst specialist officers examined the scene.
Motorists and pedestrians are thanked for their patience whilst the road remained closed.
Witnesses are asked to contact Staffordshire police on 101 quoting incident number 314 of 10 February.
