Vehicles broken into in Newcastle


Officers from Newcastle Local Policing Team (LPT) are warning residents to be aware of vehicle crime in the area.

Offenders broke into a van parked on a residential driveway in Springwood Road, between 4.30pm on Monday afternoon (22 February) and 7am yesterday morning (Tuesday), by smashing two windows. They stole a brand new Stihl saw. (Incident 81 of 23 February)

In another incident a black Peugeot Expert MPV taxi parked on a driveway in Snowgoose Way, was broken into sometime overnight on Monday 22nd into Tuesday 23rd February. Nothing was stolen from the vehicle. (Incident 141 of 23 February)

Chief Inspector Peter Owen, Commander for Newcastle Borough Local Policing Team (LPT), said:

“Local neighbourhood officers are conducting house to house enquiries in the area and we urge residents to take a moment to ensure their vehicles are kept secure.

When leaving your vehicle, don’t forget to check windows are firmly closed and all doors, including the boot, are locked. If you have an alarm and/or immobiliser, use them. Otherwise consider having them fitted.”
