NEWS: Incident at Porthill, Newcastle


Four men are currently in custody after being arrested last night, Thursday.

The four were arrested in a vehicle on the slip-road off the A500 at the Porthill roundabout, at approximately 9pm.

They are aged 32, 32, 35 and 38 and all from the local area. They were all arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to rob.

The vehicle the men were travelling in was recovered for a detailed forensic examination.

The slip road was closed off to motorists whilst police were in attendance. We would like to thank people for their patience and understanding whilst this incident was ongoing.

Two men are due before magistrates today, Thursday, following the theft of a vehicle earlier this week.

Ronald Rogers, aged 35, from Stoke-on-Trent, is charged with aggravated vehicle taking (of a Mercedes).

Dominic Salway, aged 32, from Stoke-on-Trent, is charged with driving a motor vehicle dangerously; aggravated vehicle taking and using a vehicle on a road/public place without third party insurance (of a Mercedes).

The two men were arrested yesterday following a vehicle pursuit in the Newcastle area.

The Mercedes had been stolen on Monday (18) from a driveway in Sneyd Crescent whilst the vehicle was being defrosted.

UPDATE: Wanted man arrested

UPDATE: Following an appeal on December 30, 2015 and again on January 11, 2016, we can confirm wanted man, David Warren Bailey, has been arrested.

He was arrested in the Fenton area of Stoke-on-Trent at around 9.30pm last night, January 12, and is currently in police cells.

Staffordshire Police would like to thank the media for their assistance with this appeal.

UPDATE: Two more arrested in connection with Uttoxeter assault

Two more men have been arrested in connection with an assault in Uttoxeter in which a 42-year-old man sustained serious facial and head injuries.

The men, who are aged 30 and 26 and from the Uttoxeter area, were both arrested on January 6 on suspicion of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

A 45-year-old man from the Uttoxeter area was arrested on December 30 on suspicion of the same offence.

All three men are bailed to a date in February whilst further inquiries are carried out.

The assault took place in the early hours of December 30 in Uttoxeter town centre. Anyone with any information is asked to call 101, quoting incident 30 of December 30.

NEWS: Stoke-on-Trent man charged with numerous sex offences

Following a detailed investigation by detectives a man has been remanded after being charged with eight offences.

Clive Brown, aged 33, of Greenhead Street, Stoke-on-Trent, was arrested on Tuesday 1 December and has been charged with the following:

  • three counts of rape
  • false imprisonment
  • two counts of causing / inciting prostitution for gain
  • two counts of indecent assault on a girl under the age of 14

Brown appeared before magistrates in Newcastle-under-Lyme on Wednesday 2 December where he was further remanded to appear at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Monday 21 December.

A 44-year-old Stoke-on-Trent woman was also arrested on suspicion of causing or inciting prostitution. She remains on bail pending further inquiries.

The investigation was focused sexual offences towards females in the Stoke-on-Trent area from the mid 1980s onwards.

NEWS: Stoke-on-Trent man charged after pursuit

Officers on routine patrol attempted to stop a silver Peugeot 206 in Station Road, Stoke-on-Trent, at around 8.55pm on Wednesday 11 November.

The vehicle failed to stop and after a short pursuit the driver stopped the vehicle in Geene Street and attempted to make off but was arrested.

Dean Page, 30, of Liverpool Road, Stoke-on-Trent, has been charged with driving while disqualified, driving without insurance, failing to stop for a police officer and possession of class B drugs, Amphetamine. He remains on bail to appear before magistrates in Newcastle-under-Lyme on Tuesday 23 December.
